I Hate Running…
I hate running.
I am one of those people who wants to buy the Nike t-shirt that say “Running Sucks”.
I am the person who each and every time I pass a runner I think…”Ouch that looks so uncomfortable”.
I hate running.
So when my alarm went off this morning at 6:30 and as I laced up my Nike’s to go out and run you can only imagine how grumpy on the inside I must have been.
It lasted up until the moment I opened the door, felt the crisp September air and noted the early morning silence that resonated quietly through my neighbourhood.
I trotted down the stairs, set my timer and plugged in to my I Pod…LaBamba, Wyclef’s version came on…Okay I can totally do this I thought…and off I went.
In case you don’t know I am in the final 4 weeks of prep for my next Fitness Model competition and my trainers recent addition to my training regime is a 15 minute bout of cardio first thing in the morning.
15 minutes of running at 6:30 wasn’t terrible, especially after the initial 7 minutes or so when my body actually remembered how to move properly…I still hate running, just saying.
What I don’t hate however is what I got out of my morning jaunt…two things, one that will last for the day and one that will last much longer.
I learned that morning runs are a great way to kick-start the day and get me going, which I dig.
More than the daily boost I got though I was reminded of how it feels to persevere, to pick a goal that I feel passionate about and dedicate myself to reaching it at all costs….even if it means I have to run.
Sometimes the goals you set will have parts during the attainment of them that will be less enjoyable than others (aka: running) but that shouldn’t be a deterrent, it should be a reminder of how badly you want something and the commitment you have to go get it.
When I step on stage in 4 weeks I am going to know that I didn’t find excuses, I didn’t look for shortcuts…I did everything that I could to be my best and reach my goal…nothing beats that feeling.
By the way…I still hate running.
Stay Sexy,
C2
PS: To all you runners who may be reading this and are thinking that I am off my rocker I know how you feel about running and more power to you for doing something you love. I don’t judge.

I hate running too! I would rather walk, roller blade, bike anything but run. Unless a a bear is chasing me…hehe
In my case I don’t hate running – just find it hard on the joints. I prefer getting my cardio workout by spinning, treadmil and some aerobic classes. As with everything moderation is the key and of course wearing good support on your feet. Have fun running Carrie and kick some ass in 4 weeks.
Thanks Linda…the 6:30 am runs are growing on me! Will keep you posted in 4 weeks.
