Renovate Your Wardrobe With Scissors?

Renovate Your Wardrobe With Scissors?

Don’t just toss the clothes that you don’t wear anymore! Why not see if you can get creative and come up with a completely new look?

I grabbed my scissors a few weeks ago and turned a very “plain” white blouse into something that fits my style today.  The outcome is great, I got a new shirt for nothing!

This is what the blouse looked like in 2008...typical business blouse! Had to crop the picture but you get the idea!

  1. I love this look. I’m desperate for something new and can’t buy right now. I’m closet cleaning this week and will look at my old clothes with a fresh eye.

The environment thanks you Carrie…..haha!!! Love it!

  3. I remember when you tweeted about this. I was excited to see what it was. Great confection!

Although I don’t think I’ll be “renovating” to that extend any time soon (mainly because I can hardly sew on a button) I like the idea of taking something old and making it new again with a few alterations. Maybe I could bring a few things to my grandmother and see what she can do! lol!

All this just reminded me of one of my many “things I’d like to do someday”… sewing. My mother kept pestering me to let her teach me when I was younger but I was so embarassed wearing homemade clothes that I wanted to have nothing to do with making them. I regret that now because I didn’t turn out to be the tallest person and altering my pant hems is costing me a fortune! That and I always have really cool ideas for stuff I’d like to wear but can never find anything like it. OH… and I could even make my own curtains!!!

Ok… now that I’ve gotten all excited, I think I have to officially pen this down in my “to-do’s” for 2011! =)

  4. Hi Carrie, I love that you are recycling clothes. That is so great. I was wondering if you have ever hear of the 30 year old botanically based, pure, safe, and beneficial products of Arbonne International. They have products from birth to balding and are completely vegan and animal friendly. I an passionate about how Arbonne has changed my skin and my life. It has given me so many choices and freedom. I would love you on my team because you believe in living outside the box and love nature.
    Hope to hear from you!!!

  5. Even as a guy, I cut older clothes up all the time, but it is usually not something I would wear in public, but you make a great case

  6. Awesome I have the exact same shirt that you cut up. Now I have some ideas what I can do with it.. :)

  7. Omigod. LIFE SAVER.
